And all of that happening today, March 20th, 2015. Wow! We will witness a rare astronomical event with the potential to stir up some powerful energetic shifts in our personal as well as collective lives. Apart from the full Solar Eclipse which will be fully visible only in few places in way up North like Greenland, and partially in Europe, this new moon is a supermoon – meaning it is at the closet point to the Earth in its orbit.

Humans have always look at the Mother nature, Sun, Moon and stars for answers and guidance. In some cultures Solar eclipses have been feared, in others celebrated. Full Solar Eclipse is a great time to pause, to reflect, look inside, face your fears and accept the darkness you may encounter. If you are a yoga practicioner and a meditation practicioner this is a great time to meditate, repeat mantras, move inwards and see what lies beneath. A great mantra for this time is Asatoma Sadgamaya from the Upanishads:

asato ma sadgamaya
tamaso ma jyotirgamaya
mrtyorma amrtam gamaya

Lead me from ignorance to truth.
Lead me from darkness to light.
Lead me from death to immortality.

(Brhadaranyaka Upanishad — I.iii.28)

New moon is a time for new beginnings and this supermoon energy coupled by a Spring Equinox has a great potency to create change in whichever way you choose. Some yoga traditions skip the practice on moon days, but if you feel you’d like to practice today, choose a very grounding slow paste asana practice, even Restorative practice or a deep, long held hip opening practice. Focus on your breath, especially on the exhale and move mindfully - like you are practicing for the first time and you are curious about your breath and your body. Use exhale trough the mouth any time you feel like it, any time you feel you need to let go.

Spring equinox has
always been a time of rebirth, fertility and hope. Time for change and creating new opportunities.  Spring equinox was celebrated by the Pagan traditions of Europe usually by planting a crop. It was also celebrated by the Mayans, ancient Romans, and by the ancient Egyptians. It is no wonder that the Passover ceremony in Judaism and the Easter ceremony in Christianity is celebrated around the Spring Equinox time, a time of rebirth. No matter what our believes, we can all celebrate Mother Nature and her time of fertility and growth - the qualities of the divine feminine.
Tap into this healing, feminine energy, hold the space for your Self, for your loved ones, for your students if you teach.

We should all embrace this time when we will get an energetic push to look inside, introspect, face our fears, dive deep and then pause and reflect.

Find out what your heart desires as it is great time to let go of all that is holding you back, to let go of all your fears, patterns, relationships, all which does not serve your purpose. The Universe will help you transition, help find your passion and help you follow it. But only if you have chosen the right path and from the right part of you. From your heart.
Embrace the new beginnings and embrace the change. Change is sometimes hard, sometimes liberating but always a chance to grow.

Happy Solar Eclipse, New Supermoon Spring Equinox beautiful people! <3
