Without them, humanity cannot survive.” - The Dalai Lama
The Yoga of Compassion
Karma Yoga has always been a big part of Nina’s journey. She organised many humanitarian actions and tries to inspire her teacher trainees to look for ways of giving back.
I always believed that, as a yoga teacher and a human being who has more that she needs, it is my duty to help those in need, to be of service and a voice for the voiceless. Karma Yoga is the path of yoga which our society needs more than ever. And even though I try not to impose my believes to others, my is to inspire my students, so we often do a Karma Yoga project together.
My favourite one is in Sri Lanka, visiting and helping financially or otherwise Dog Care Clinic, an amazing and inspiring place devoted to healing and helping Sri Lankan dogs. About 200 + dogs live on the DCC grounds, most of them in need for medical care. But, they do so much more…
Their consistent neutering programs aims to reduce the number of stray dogs. They do mass vaccinations to reduce diseases and to minimize the risk of rabies to both humans and animals. They also try to increase the awareness of the local population and inspire compassion to animals and they help the locals in Sri Lanka by their social projects.
There are many other dog shelters as well as other charity organisations I support and will continue to do so. I am always open to teach a free class on a charity based event, so if you have an idea for collaboration or if I can help in some other way, please get in touch.
